Elvis Presley

Elvis Las Vegas Elvis Presley was an American pop culture icon.  In the 1960s, Elvis emerged as a live performer in Las Vegas and was known for highly energetic performances.  He was born in Tupelo, Mississippi  on January 8 in 1935.  Elvis is still this day known as “The King of Rock and Roll” or “The King”.

Presley was first a singer but also ventured into acting, he was not known as the most talented actor around but that did not stop him.  Elvis made over 27 movies in the 1960s, which grossed an incredible $130 million.

From 1969 to 1977 Presley preformed in over 1,000 performances in Las Vegas and on tour.  Although, Elvis died in August of 1977 we still see impersonators walking the streets of Las Vegas to this day.

You can get married in a Elvis fashion, you can buy Elvis outfits, you can see Elvis impersonators.  Las Vegas is a flashy city and Elvis was a flashy guy!

Interesting Facts

  • Elvis received a draft notice from the military, he was able to delay it, but did eventually end up serving with the 32nd Armored Regiment in Germany.  While serving in Germany he met his wife, who was 14 at the time. 
  • Presley died at 42, and controversy still surrounds his death.
